The Department of Homeland Security is touting an effort to save children who may be facing exploitation as a result of having an "unvetted" sponsor when they entered the country illegally. A U.S. defense official refuted media reports in Iran regarding an interaction between a U.S. warship and an Iranian helicopter. Prosecutors have asked a Boise judge to extend the order barring Bryan Kohberger from contacting his victims' families for another 99 years following his guilty plea in the stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students. The second illegal immigrant suspect arrested Monday in the shooting of an off-duty U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer in New York City over the weekend has a lengthy criminal background, officials said.  Cristian Aybar Berroa of the Dominican Republic "illegally entered the United States on June 19, 2022, and was released into the country on interim parole pending his immigration hearing," according to the Department of Homeland Security.
