Minneapolis man cleared of triple homicide gets 26 years for kidnapping

A Minneapolis man with an extensive criminal record who was acquitted of killing three people in St. Paul has been sentenced to 26 years in prison for kidnapping and wounding a man in the same city two days before that 2022 shooting. Antonio Dupree Wright was given consecutive terms at the prosecution's request for kidnapping and attempted murder . Ramsey County District Judge Kelly Olmstead on Monday also granted Wright, 42, credit for 488 days already served, the Pioneer Press reported. MINNESOTA MAN, 21, RECEIVES PRISON SENTENCE AFTER ASSEMBLING AN ARSENAL TO ATTACK POLICE Prosecutors argued that Wright shot a 37-year-old man identified in the criminal complaint as DW, who considered Wright to be a close friend, because Wright thought DW was going to snitch on him after overhearing Wright discussing a 2017 killing. According to the criminal complaint, Wright asked DW to get in a van with him, and then pressed a handgun to his head. The driver told Wright not to shoot DW in ...

Lawyer closes funding gap in NC governor race, but Robinson still favorite for GOP nomination

Republican Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson remained the top fundraiser in the GOP primary campaign for North Carolina governor entering 2024 , but a recent rival has used his own personal fortune to compete with him monetarily. Robinson's campaign said it raised close to $3.4 million for the second half of 2023, according to campaign finance reports due late last week at the State Board of Elections. Bill Graham, a Salisbury trial lawyer who announced his bid for the Republican nomination in October, loaned his campaign $2.8 million of the $2.9 million it had collected through Dec. 31, his campaign's report said. Graham, whose personal loans have helped him run television advertising statewide, had said in October that he would invest "at least $5 million of his own resources" in the campaign. Graham, who ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2008, told The Associated Press in an interview in January that he was on track to spend that amount for the March 5 primaries. NORTH C...

Illinois sheriffs bust migrant-run operation coercing others into stealing so they could buy fake IDs

Three migrants in Chicago are facing felony charges for obtaining fake ID cards which they then sold to other migrants so they could gain employment.  Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced the charges on Tuesday against the following men: Facundo Donato Meneses-Garcia, 51, Francisco Javier Otero-Rosas, 42, and Keneth Jareth Ulloa-Rodriguez, 19.  Sheriff’s police arrested the three men last Wednesday after executing a search warrant at their resident in the 2700 block of South Hamlin Avenue in Chicago. Officers recovered nearly 500 phony ID cards at the residence, including social security cards, green cards, and driver’s licenses – along with more than $7,200 in cash and around 40 grams of suspected methamphetamine . Investigators determined that the three men were taking advantage of the migrants’ desperation to gain employment and were recruiting them to steal specific merchandise. The merchandise was traded for fake IDs or to be sold for cash that was then used...

Jerry Jones says there's 'no doubt in my mind' he and Bill Belichick 'could work together'

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones opted to stick with Mike McCarthy for the 2024 season, but he's definitely fond of another head coach. The Cowboys' disastrous loss in the wild-card round at home to the Green Bay Packers — a 48-32 stunner — had many questioning McCarthy's future as the team's head coach. Despite a third straight 12-5 regular season, this one ending with an NFC East title, Dallas fell short of its Super Bowl aspirations again.  However, Jones decided to give McCarthy another kick at the can . CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM This decision came even while Bill Belichick was, and still is, a free agent. Despite passing on Belichick to stick with McCarthy, Jones thinks he and Belichick could be a good match. "I know him personally, and I like him," Jones said at the Senior Bowl, per Yahoo Sports . "There's no doubt in my mind we could work together. None. None." Jones added that he didn't talk to "...

Haley expects to haul in $1.5 million at Wall Street fundraisers to fuel GOP presidential bid against Trump

It's a lucrative day for Nikki Haley in New York City. The former two-term South Carolina governor who later served as U.N. ambassador in former President Donald Trump's administration expects to raise $1.5 million at a trio of top-dollar New York City fundraisers on Tuesday, according to her campaign. The fundraisers are the first of roughly 10 over the next two weeks that will take Haley to donor-rich environments of South Florida, California and Texas. The campaign told Fox News that the three finance events Wednesday in Palm Beach and Miami, Florida, were expected to bring in over $1 million. The fundraisers come amid a surge in small dollar grassroots donations for Haley after she grabbed 43% of the vote in her 11-point loss last week in the New Hampshire primary to Trump, the commanding frontrunner for the Republican nomination. Democrats are so pro-migrant that it's now Russian roulette with Americans' safety

If you're rushing to the airport and forget your photo ID, good luck being allowed on the plane. But many migrants without "an acceptable form of identification," according to airport signs, don't need a photo. They get special treatment. Migrants who have entered the country using President Joe Biden's new CBP (Customs and Border Protection) One app -- about 422,000 of them -- can fly domestically without photo ID. A sign posted at the Miami International Airport tells migrants: "1. Notify the TSA officer that you are a migrant. 2. The TSA officer will take a photo (optional). 3. If requested, provide your alien identification number or biographic information." EX-FBI OFFICIALS WARN CONGRESS OF 'NEW AND IMMINENT' BORDER DANGER: 'THE COUNTRY HAS BEEN INVADED' Taking a photo would allow the TSA officer to confirm that the person boarding matches the person pictured in the CBP One app. But the airport sign repeats, "Photo capture...

Pompeo says 'no one's held Xi Jinping accountable' for COVID, blasts CCP as 'truly evil' influence in US

Mike Pompeo, former secretary of state in the Trump administration, blasted the Chinese Communist Party as "truly evil" for its infiltration of American institutions during a House select committee hearing on Tuesday – and went on to torch Xi Jinping for never being held accountable for the COVID-19 pandemic unleashed on the world.  In a bipartisan show of support, Pompeo and Leon Panetta, former secretary of defense in the Obama administration, together testified Tuesday before the House Select Committee hearing titled, "Authoritarian Alignment: The CCP's Support for America's Adversaries."  "We should never forget this information space on social media and how the Chinese Communist Party has communist-directed entities on every one of our children’s cellphones passing information that is deeply filtered, designed for our young people here to undermine their idea and their understanding of America and our foundational ideas," Pompeo said. ...

A California man pleaded guilty on Monday to a federal charge of stalking and admitted to engaging in a 14-month campaign in which he threatened a victim and threatened to shoot synagogues and "exterminate" Jewish people and Asian Americans, according to the Department of Justice. Officials said Andre Morrow Lackner, 35, of Northridge, pleaded guilty to one count of stalking. Ravens' Lamar Jackson shakes off defender, delivers perfect throw for miraculous TD in AFC title game

Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens needed a response to a dominant Patrick Mahomed-led drive to give the Kansas City Chiefs the early lead in the AFC Championship Game.  And Jackson did what only he can with a miraculous scramble-to-touchdown throw that had his M&T Bank Stadium crowd going ballistic in the first quarter.  After back-to-back strong rushes that placed the Ravens in Chiefs territory, Jackson found himself dropping back to throw on first-and-10 from the 30-yard line. But, when he was scanning the field, it looked like Chiefs second-year edge rusher George Karlaftis was going to sack Jackson for a big loss.  CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM However, Jackson somehow maneuvered his way out of the pressure, and remained calm as he scanned the field to make his throw.  That’s when his rookie receiver Zay Flowers slipped out of coverage and started sprinting toward the end zone. Jackson, now 15 yards from the line of scrimmage,...

Texas again rebuffs Biden admin's demand for 'full access' to disputed border area

Texas has again rebuffed demands from the Biden administration for it to have "full access" to the Shelby Park area of Eagle Pass amid an ongoing standoff between the federal government and the state. The Department of Homeland Security had written to Attorney General Ken Paxton this week seeking "full access to the Shelby Park area currently obstructed by Texas" after Gov. Greg Abbott’s administration had taken control of it earlier this month. DHS has repeatedly sought access to the area, and in response last week Texas said it will allow entry to any Border Patrol personnel responding to an emergency. In response, DHS said it wants unrestricted access during emergencies, as well as regular access to the port of entry, the boat ramp and border barrier entrances. Leader of Somalia's breakaway Somaliland says deal with Ethiopia will allow it to build a naval base

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — The president of Somalia 's breakaway region of Somaliland has said his government will press ahead with an agreement signed earlier this month with landlocked Ethiopia to give it access to the sea by way of Somaliland’s coastline. The deal has been condemned by regional and international groups, as well as Western countries, which say it interferes with Somalia ’s territorial integrity and is causing tensions that could threaten stability in the Horn of Africa region. US FORCES CARRY OUT AIRSTRIKE IN SOUTHERN SOMALIA, KILLING 3 AL-SHABAAB TERRORISTS Somalia has also protested the deal as a threat to its sovereignty by Somaliland, a region strategically located along the Gulf of Aden that broke away from Somalia in 1991 as the country collapsed into warlord-led conflict. Hunter Biden’s business associate , Mervyn Yan, testified behind closed-doors before the House Oversight and Judiciary committees Thursday after receiving a subpoena.  House Republicans, on the other hand, said Yan's testimony raised many questions about the nature of the Biden family's business dealings in China. Senate GOP in 'quandary' over border security, Ukraine aid package: 'Designed not to solve the problem'

Senate Republicans face a "quandary" with regard to linking a potential border security measure with Ukraine in the national security supplemental package, fueled by confusion about Sen. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell 's comments in a closed-door meeting on Wednesday night. Some GOP lawmakers reportedly interpreted McConnell's assessment of current border negotiations as stepping back from securing an agreement and bowing to Trump's demands to refuse a border deal with Democrats. But on Thursday, other lawmakers told reporters that McConnell was "laying out the quandary." "I think he was just kind of laying out the quandary we're in," said Sen. Pete Ricketts, R-Neb., "and laying out kind of what the field looks like. And so we got to see the text before we do anything else." Lead Republican negotiator Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., agreed with Ricketts. ILLEGAL MIGRANTS ARE SLEEPING IN TERMINALS OF BOSTON AIRPORT ON ‘DAILY B...

New York Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux has the back of teammate Saquon Barkley, who he believes should've been paid before quarterback Daniel Jones.  Thibodeaux spoke to Carmelo Anthony and The Kid Mero on the "7PM in Brooklyn" podcast and prefaced a statement on the matter by saying he believes in Jones , saying 2023 was a rough season for the man who got a four-year, $160 million extension from the Giants just before the franchise tag deadline last March.  However, after watching Barkley lead the Giants' offense during a playoff run in 2022 — Thibodeaux's rookie season — the fifth overall pick by New York explained why he felt Barkley should've been given his due.  CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM "You pay Daniel Jones $40 million. Saudi Arabia opens its first liquor store in over 70 years as kingdom further liberalizes

JERUSALEM (AP) — A liquor store has opened in Saudi Arabia for the first time in over 70 years, a diplomat reported Wednesday, a further socially liberalizing step in the once-ultraconservative kingdom that is home to the holiest sites in Islam. While restricted to non-Muslim diplomats, the store in Riyadh comes as Saudi Arabia's assertive Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman aims to make the kingdom a tourism and business destination as part of ambitious plans to slowly wean its economy away from crude oil. SAUDI ARABIA RAMPS UP PRESSURE ON ISRAEL TO AGREE TO PALESTINIAN STATE WITH FRESH DEMAND However, challenges remain both from the prince's international reputation after the 2018 killing of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi as well as internally with the conservative Islamic mores that have governed its sandy expanses for decades. North Korea demolishes monument symbolizing potential unification with South: report

A massive arched monument that stood in North Korea for more than 20 years and symbolized the goal of reconciliation with South Korea has been demolished weeks after Kim Jong Un  ordered it to be destroyed, according to a report by NK News, an online outlet that monitors North Korea. The concrete straddled monument, known as the "Arch of Reunification," opened in 2001 to commemorate Korean reunification proposals put forward by former leader and dictator Kim Il Sung. At 100 feet high and 300 feet wide, it towered over the multi-laned Reunification Highway leading from Pyongyang to the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and consisted of two Korean women in traditional dress holding an emblem of the entire Korean Peninsula, symbolizing the North and the South. But satellite imagery of Pyongyang on Tuesday showed that the monument had been destroyed. It is unclear when or how it was brought down, and it was last seen standing in an image taken on Jan. 19, ...

Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich marked 300 days in a Moscow prison being held on dubious espionage charges on Monday.  "300 days is 300 too long for Evan to be wrongfully detained by Russia. Evan was doing his job as a journalist, and any portrayal to the contrary is fiction," Wall Street Journal assistant editor Paul Beckett told Fox News Digital .  The Wall Street Journal had Beckett, who previously served as Washington bureau chief for the paper, concentrate solely on efforts to free Gershkovich, the 32-year-old American son of Soviet immigrants whose plight has attracted international attention and  calls for his release .
