Iowa trolls Nebraska after some Cornhuskers players decline pregame handshake

The Iowa Hawkeyes and Nebraska Cornhuskers met on Friday in their annual rivalry game. Shortly before kickoff, Iowa's team captains and Nebraska's team captains met at the 50-yard line for the coin toss. It's customary for players from opposing teams to greet one another and shake hands before referees explain which side of the coin represents heads and which side will serve as tails.  But Nebraska's players decided not to engage in the handshaking ritual with their opponents. At least one of the four Cornhuskers' captains appeared to shake and look towards the ground as the Hawkeyes players approached. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Tensions were already heightened before the coin toss moment after Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule walked through Iowa's warmup area. Iowa linebacker Jay Higgins explained how his team took exception to Rhule's pregame actions. "Our guys are warming up, doing our pregame and their head coach walke...

Ukraine to seek NATO invitation in Brussels next week

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha is urging NATO leaders to invite Ukraine to join the Western military alliance during a meeting in Brussels next week, according to a letter sent to alliance leaders—reflecting the country's frenzied push to gain membership in the alliance in the final days of Biden's presidency.  The letter, first reviewed by Reuters, comes as Ukraine has re-upped its request for NATO membership to help put an end to Russia's war, including a recent uptick in attacks on its energy infrastructure. It also comes as the Biden administration has granted Ukraine new permissions to fight back against Russia in their final months in office.  In the letter, Ukraine's foreign minister acknowledged his country's ongoing war with Russia prohibits Kyiv from joining NATO right now. But he argued that an invitation for membership in Brussels would be a powerful show of force—and a major symbolic blow—to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has long o...

US agriculture industry tests artificial intelligence: 'A lot of potential'

In the 1930s, there were around 6.8 million farms in the United States . The size averaged at around 155 acres. Over the next several decades, the number of farms rapidly declined to around 1.9 million in 2023. Those farms grew larger, averaging around 464 acres. As farming has changed over time, experts believe artificial intelligence (AI) can help farmers and producers make food faster and more efficiently. FARMERS 'BRUTALIZED' AS COSTS 'GO THROUGH THE ROOF' IN LAST DAYS OF BIDEN'S AMERICA "I think there's a lot of potential for both increasing productivity on the crop side, but also for reducing the amount of resources that we use on the productivity side. There's the data that we can actually collect to increase yields and improve the nutritional quality. But then there's also the facilitate facilitating of reductions in labor availability," said Mason Earles, an assistant professor at UC Davis in the departments of Viticulture & En...

Alaska native delivers Thanksgiving to rural families by airdrop

In some of Alaska’s remotest areas this Thanksgiving, there’s a different kind of bird in the sky – a frozen turkey dropped for residents unable to pick up their own for their holiday table.  Alaska native Esther Keim is now in her third straight year of the Alaska Turkey Bomb, a service in which she drops frozen turkeys from a small plane to remote areas of the south-central part of the state.  Keim told the Alaska Gear Company that she remembers living on an Alaskan homestead as a child. "I grew up in Skwentna, Alaska, which is about 50 miles northwest of Anchorage," Keim said in a video about her efforts. "In the fall, in the freeze-up, families would be stuck out there because you can’t travel, everything would be freezing up. It’s not safe." MAN WHO DROVE THOUSANDS OF MILES TO RESCUE TURKEYS FROM THANKSGIVING DINNER INVITES AMERICANS TO ADOPT ONE She continued, "We had a friend that would fly and drop a turkey for Thanksgiving . I just remember it be...

Harris campaign aides ripped for excuses, lack of accountability in post-election 'what went wrong' podcast

A group of Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign aides were accused by liberals of gaslighting and taking no accountability in a post-election podcast interview about what went wrong for Democrats in the election.  "Pod Save America" host Dan Pffeifer spoke with Jen O'Malley Dillon, David Plouffe, Quentin Fulks and Stephanie Cutter in the Harris campaign's first major interview since the vice president's loss to President-elect Trump. The questioning and the defensive posture by the guests was sharply criticized by online progressives. "Listened to the @PodSaveAmerica bros interview the Kamala campaign team and it was....somewhere between disappointing and enraging. I would not hire these guys if I was running the next D campaign," Ben Yelin, a podcast host and law professor, wrote in reaction to the podcast. "The more I listen to this, the worse it gets. Fully discrediting. Every five minutes they reference the fact that the campaign was sh...

Kamala Harris campaign aides suggest Trump's sit-down with Joe Rogan to blame for her not joining podcast

Kamala Harris' campaign aides attributed the vice president not sitting down with podcast host Joe Rogan for an interview to President-elect Donald Trump's taping with Rogan, and suggested Rogan leveraged the Harris campaign's offer to do the interview in Austin to get Trump in the studio. "We had discussions with Joe Rogan’s team, they were great, they wanted us to come on, we wanted to come on, we tried to get a date to make it work and, ultimately, we just weren’t able to find a date. We did go to Houston and she gave a great speech at an amazing event," Stephanie Cutter, a senior adviser on the campaign, told "Pod Save America" in an interview posted Tuesday. Harris spoke at an event in Houston alongside Beyoncé at the end of October, during which the singer endorsed the vice president. Trump sat down with Rogan for a three-hour-long interview on the same day. Cutter noted they were hoping to schedule the sit-down while they were in Houston, beca...

Trump begins endorsing replacements to replenish GOP majority in House as Cabinet picks shrink lead

President-elect Trump began endorsing fellow Republicans this week to replace members of Congress who have vacated their seats to join his Cabinet.  The endorsements come amid fears that the party's razor-thin majority in the House – the size of which still remains undetermined – could be in jeopardy as a result of Trump's selections from the lower chamber. Trump threw his support behind two Floridians, former GOP state Sen. Randy Fine and the current chief financial officer for the Sunshine State, Jimmy Patronis Jr., both of whom are considering runs for Congress, according to the president-elect.  Fine would run in Florida's 6th Congressional District, a seat that is currently held by Trump's pick to be his next national security adviser, Rep. Michael Waltz. Patronis would run in Florida's deep-red 1st District, previously held by former Rep. Matt Gaetz. Gaetz resigned from Congress after Trump nominated him to be attorney general, but allegations of sexual a...

Russia tricks Yemeni men to fight in Ukraine under Houthi scheme

Russia is recruiting hundreds of Yemeni men to fight in its war in Ukraine by luring them to Russia under false pretenses in coordination with the Houthi terrorist network, a report by the Financial Times found. The Yemeni recruits who were transferred to Russia under a "shadowy trafficking operation" were originally told they would receive high-paying jobs and Russian citizenship. However, after arriving with the help of a Houthi-linked company , many have apparently been coerced into the Russian military, forced to sign fighting contracts at gunpoint and sent to the front lines in Ukraine. RUSSIA IS SUPPLYING HOUTHIS WITH SATELLITE DATA TO ATTACK SHIPS IN THE RED SEA: REPORT A senior Ukrainian defense official told Fox News that Moscow is trying to involve as many foreign mercenaries as possible in its war against Ukraine, whether from its allies or proxies in poor, impoverished countries. Venezuelan migrant arrested in Colorado for allegedly sexually assaulting boss' 14-year-old daughter: report

A Venezuelan migrant is accused of sexually assaulting the 14-year-old daughter of his employer in Colorado while living in the basement of his home, police and reports say.  Jesus Alberto Pereira Castillo had crossed into the U.S. illegally in El Paso, Texas on Sept. 30, 2023 before being released by the Border Patrol, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) told Fox News Digital. He was taken into custody in Denver on Tuesday.  The arrest in Denver followed a recent interview with the city's mayor Mike Johnston, who predicted a "Tiananmen Square moment" if federal immigration officials move to enforce President-elect Donald Trump's pledged mass deportations. "More than us having DPD [Denver Police Department officers] stationed at the county line to keep them out, you would have 50,000 Denverites there," Johnston told the website Denverite. "It’s like the Tiananmen Square moment with the rose and the gun, right? You’d have every one of th...

Vikings win on walk-off field goal in overtime after blowing late lead, allowing onside kick recovery

The Minnesota Vikings won a thriller at Soldier Field on Sunday in a game they were so close to choking away. With 22 seconds left and trailing by 11, Caleb Williams hit Keenan Allen for a one-yard score, and the two-point conversion was successful when Williams found DJ Moore.  CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM The Bears then recovered the onside kick, just the third onside recovery on the season in the NFL. They quickly got in field goal range after a long catch by Moore and drilled the field goal to send the game into overtime. They outscored the Vikings 17-3 in the fourth quarter. The Bears went three-and-out on the first overtime possession, and that turned out to be the last time they would touch the ball on the day.  Justin Jefferson had just one catch in regulation, but his second of the game put Minnesota at midfield. College football team gives up embarrassing safety after delaying game because of wet ball

The UNLV Rebels wanted better conditions for a punt, but then the unthinkable happened. With just over a minute to go in the second quarter on Friday night against San Jose State , UNLV got into a punt formation from their own 47-yard line, but with rain pouring down, they took a timeout in efforts to get a dry ball for the snap. There had been an errant snap earlier, so no one can blame the coach. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM A dry ball came onto the field, yet it didn't stay that way for much longer, considering the rain. Well, the Rebels got back into the punt formation, and the snap airmailed the punter, with the first bounce around the 25-yard line.  The ball continued to roll toward the end zone and inside the 10-yard line, and after the punter bobbled the ball twice, it eventually rolled past the end zone, resulting in a safety. "Maybe they should have done the wet ball," said color commentator Petros Papadakis. Sure, the ball still m...

Federal judge pushes back on parents calling trans athlete 'a boy' in legal battle over pro-girls protests

New Hampshire Judge Steven McAuliffe presided over a case involving parents in the state who wore pro-girl armbands at a high school girls soccer game that included a transgender athlete . During the case, McAuliffe pushed back on the parents for repeatedly referring to the athlete as a boy.  "You seem to go out of your way to suggest there’s no such thing as a trans girl ," McAuliffe said during the hearing.  McAuliffe's federal judicial service dates back to 1992, when he was appointed by former President George H.W. Bush. On Thursday, McAuliffe heard arguments in a case in which plaintiffs Kyle Fellers and Anthony Foote sued the Bow School District after being banned from school grounds for wearing the wristbands at their daughters' soccer game in September.  THE PRONOUN POLICE HAVE ARRIVED AND ARE COMING FOR YOU NEXT  The wristbands said "XX" in reference to the natural female chromosomes. The "XX" logo has become an unspoken symbol of the ...

Egg shortages linked to avian flu, but that's not the only reason, some stores say

Consumers around the U.S. have noticed something missing from their grocery stores as they do their pre-Thanksgiving shopping: eggs.  Some shoppers looking for eggs were greeted with signs apologizing for the food's absence — and some may be wondering why. Egg production dropped 2.6% last month compared to October 2023, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) said in a recent report.  BRUNCH IS SERVED: TRY THIS DELICIOUS DUTCH BABY WITH FRIED EGGS, MAPLE BACON AND SMOKED CHEDDAR    As it turns out, there's one big thing impacting egg availability: an outbreak of avian flu .  Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) A(H5) viruses have been found in birds in the U.S. since January 2022, according to the USDA's website.  Since the virus was first detected in the U.S., it has spread to 49 states. More than 100 million birds have been affected, the agency said. Other stores have cited non-flu reasons as to why their egg stock is limited.  ‘I ATE...

Georgia Gov. Kemp, after life sentence for Laken Riley killer, says justice 'was swift and severe'

EXCLUSIVE – Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp says justice was served after a judge gave the 26-year-old migrant from Venezuela who was convicted of murdering Laken Riley a life sentence. Tragic for that family and I've certainly had them in my thoughts and prayers. I know that people in Georgia and around the country have." GREGG JARRETT: Bragg and Merchan's vindictive lawfare strategy against Trump failed. Can this go on till 2029?

New York Judge Juan Merchan abruptly canceled the scheduled November 26 sentencing of President-elect Donald Trump arising from his convictions in May on falsifying business records.  The judge’s order on Tuesday came as Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg notified the court that his office does not oppose further delays that could defer any sentencing "until after the end of the defendant’s upcoming presidential term" in 2029.  At the same time, the DA opposes any attempt to dismiss the case.   Merchan seems flummoxed.  He resembles Charlie Brown —wishy-washy.  His dithering and vacillation are exceeded only by his disregard for the law.  BRAGG CASE 'EFFECTIVELY OVER' IN 'MAJOR VICTORY,' TRUMP OFFICIALS SAY He has had more than four months to consider the pending defense motion to dismiss the case based on the Supreme Court’s decision on July 1 that Trump had broad and presumptive immunity from prosecution for official acts as president.  ...

'Sanctuary' city mayor vows she will defy Trump's mass deportation push: 'Causing widespread fear'

Boston's Democrat Mayor Michelle Wu said in an interview on Sunday that her city won’t cooperate with the looming mass deportation operation from the incoming Trump administration — even as the region sees a number of illegal immigrants with criminal charges released back onto the streets. Wu was asked in an interview with WCVB about the Trump administration’s plans to launch a mass deportation operation when it takes office in January, and was asked what Boston’s response will be. "Elections have consequences, and the federal government is responsible for a certain set of actions, and cities, no individual city, can reverse or override some parts of that," she said. "But what we can do is make sure that we are doing our part to protect our residents in every possible way, that we are not cooperating with those efforts that actually threaten the safety of everyone by causing widespread fear and and having large scale economic impact." Diabetes and weight loss drugs shown to reduce alcohol-related hospitalizations, study finds

Ozempic, Wegovy and other GLP-1 drugs have been shown to curb alcohol effects , a new study suggests. Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1) agonists — which contain either semaglutide or liraglutide — are prescribed to treat type 2 diabetes and obesity, but previous studies have shown that people report decreased alcohol consumption when taking them. In a new study by the University of Eastern Finland and Karolinska Institutet in Sweden, researchers found that people with alcohol use disorder (AUD) were less likely to be hospitalized for alcohol or substance abuse-related conditions. DRINKING ALCOHOL IS LINKED TO SIX TYPES OF CANCER, EXPERTS SAY The researchers analyzed decades of data from 228,000 people in Sweden who had AUD, ranging in age from 16 to 64, according to a press release. For participants who had AUD, obesity and type 2 diabetes, the use of GLP-1 medications was linked to "substantially decreased risk of hospitalization due to AUD," the researchers wr...
