The family of a 14-year-old California girl who died after a stray bullet struck her in a Los Angeles Burlington Coat Factory dressing room during a police response to an active assault last year has filed a lawsuit against the retail chain, the city, the LAPD and one of its officers. Police responded to reports of a man assaulting women with a deadly weapon inside the North Hollywood Burlington store on Dec. 23. A responding officer fired three shots and killed the suspect, 24-year-old Daniel Elena Lopez, of Los Angeles. The girl, identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office as Valentina Orellana-Peralta , was pronounced dead at the scene after a bullet ricocheted off the floor, then ripped through the wall and struck her, authorities said. A group of fishermen in Texas reeled in a huge alligator gar last week.  South Texas Bowfishing, a business that offers guided bowfishing tours in the area, posted on Facebook about the massive fish that three customers caught on July 18.  The alligator gar weighed 271 pounds and was measured at 7 feet, 11 inches long and 48 inches around, according to the Facebook post.  VIRGINIA MAN CATCHES 66-POUND BLUE CATFISH, BREAKS STATE RECORD "New personal record for South Texas Bowfishing," the business posted on Facebook. A Wisconsin Senate Democrat was involved in a car crash last Friday that left two people dead, including a 27-year-old Pennsylvania mom and her 5-year-old daughter, police said.  Minority Leader Janet Bewley, 70, who represents northwestern Wisconsin, was not injured in the crash, according to her office.  "We'll be sitting down with them and going over everything as far as determining how it all actually happened," Ashland Police Chief Bill Hagstrom told the Ashland Daily Press. "Then we'll forward everything to the district attorney for their review because it was a fatal accident."
