TNA star KC Navarro recalls competing in Ultimate X match against mentor Amazing Red at Slammiversary

KC Navarro narrowly missed out on winning the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) X Division Championship at Slammiversary, but the moment was special nonetheless.

Navarro competed against his mentor, Amazing Red, in the match. Red got the better of him in one of the better sequences of the match.

Navarro also talked about battling his fear of heights as he tried to make his way up the pillar to climb on the rope and get the title.

"So, this Ultimate X was a lot more special than the first one I was in at Rebellion last year. See, me, I'm not a big fan of heights. So, it actually takes me a while to climb that thing, and I have to see what I'm gonna do," he told Fox News Digital.

"But this year was very special to me because Amazing Red was in it. A lot of people don't know, but it was set on commentary, Amazing Red was a big mentor for me for my entire career. Somebody I looked up to. I mean, obviously me and him, same stature, you know, he did amazing things, no pun intended, amazing things in the X Division, former X Division champion. And just to be a part of his first match back, it was very special for me.

"I really was grateful that me and him got to have a moment in the ring as well. I know it was very special for him as well. Hope he comes back. That'll be awesome. I think it's awesome, cool to see him back. But it was very special for me. You know, Slammiversary last year, I walked in with a torn ACL, and I risked my career being in that ladder match against The Hardys, The Nemeths and The Rascalz.

"This year, I came in with a brand-new knee in the Ultimate X at a match that's pretty dangerous for me to be in. If I would have fell the wrong way, I could have blew my knee out. So, I took a chance. But for me to get an opportunity this soon to go for a championship like the X Division title and being in the ring with a guy like Amazing Red, my boy Leon Slater, Fabian Aichner, Mr. Elegance, Frankie Kazarian, etc. It was a very stacked match to be in. I was very grateful to be a part of it."

Navarro added that battling his fear of heights is just a part of the job.

"Yeah, I'm not a fan of heights, and it might be just from the injury, right? Like, I just might have been thinking too much, like, ‘Oh man, what if I get hurt.’ But, I mean, it's just me man," he said. "I just keep God first. I count on the adrenaline to get me through, which it does because once that bell rings, got no choice. Got to go for that belt.

"Once that bell rings and the lights are on, I'm all good. But it's just having a strong mentality of just knowing that this is what I'm meant to do, and I can't think negative. I got to go out there positive and know that I'm going to go in healthy, walk out healthy and maybe walk out a champion as well."

Navarro is in the midst of a feud with TNA world champion Nic Nemeth. Navigating the rivalry could put him back on the top of the roster.

Jim Gaffigan says comedy audiences are tired of political drama and just want to laugh again

Comedian Jim Gaffigan revealed in an interview why he's mostly steering clear of politics in his stand-up material these days. Gaffigan told Variety that comedy fans don’t attend stand-up shows to hear lectures. They go to escape the real world and simply laugh at silly jokes. When the interviewer mentioned the recent crossover between comedy and politics, Gaffigan responded, "People are coming to a show to have a break from some of this drama. That’s not to say there aren’t great comedians who talk about social commentary. The spirit of George Carlin is very important."  And he recalled his political jokes after President Donald Trump's first election victory in 2016 not landing how he'd imagined. Prosecutors present final witness tying Ryan Routh to Trump's golf club and gun purchase

Prosecutors on Friday presented their final witness in the federal trial of Ryan Routh, accused of attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump at his West Palm Beach golf club on Sept. 15, 2024. FBI Supervisory Special Agent Kimberly McGreevy testified about financial records, phone data, license plate readers and surveillance evidence that traced Routh’s movements from Hawaii to Florida ahead of the assassination attempt. McGreevy read aloud a handwritten note Routh allegedly left in a box at Lazaro Plata’s home in Greensboro, North Carolina. The note began: "Dear World, .. This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, but I am so sorry I failed you... it’s up to you now to complete the job." The letter also mentioned a $150,000 reward.
