Deion Sanders gives bizarre response after Colorado’s offensive script was found at hotel bar before game

More than a week after Colorado’s alleged offensive script was posted on social media by a Texas Tech fan during the teams’ game, head coach Deion Sanders is trying to put the embarrassing incident behind him by playing coy about the situation.

This marked the first time Sanders had been asked about the viral situation, which left college football fans scouring game footage in an attempt to determine whether the script was legitimate.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL'S MEGA ROSTERS AREN'T DELIVERING A RETURN ON INVESTMENT, AS LSU, TEXAS A&M AND OREGON ARE PROVING

On the Friday night before Texas Tech faced Colorado in Boulder, Red Raiders fans reportedly came across alleged plays from the Buffaloes’ offensive game plan. That information eventually made its way onto message boards and social media.

When Colorado plays at home in Boulder, the team typically stays at a nearby hotel in the Broomfield area, just a few miles from the stadium. On this occasion, a script of plays was apparently left at the hotel bar, where several Texas Tech fans were also staying.

"A whole playbook. So somebody left a whole playbook, or a script of several plays," Sanders asked the reporter. "I don't think we have a whole playbook, I think they get a script. I thought we scored on the first drive ... So, what's the purpose of the question."

In this case, it's pretty easy to notice that Deion Sanders knew that a mistake had been made by a staffer, which he most likely realized the minute this became a public spectacle. But, this was obviously not a topic that Sanders' was losing too much sleep over.

Or, he was too embarrassed by it all, so deflection was the best route. When asked if he would be further investigating the matter, Sanders hit back with his own questions.

"Why would we, it's over," Sanders started. "Game is over, why would we do that? We probably know a lot more than you think we do. A whole playbook? Come on man."

When questioned further about the script matching up with the plays Colorado was running on their opening drives, Deion seemingly gave into the fact that someone on the Buffaloes staff left the script inside a hotel bar.

"It happens sometimes. That happens sometimes. I've seen and heard that on the pro level, as well as the collegiate level. But, I think we scored on the first drive, so I guess it didn’t work."

But, the bigger question is why, and if the Colorado coach was concerned with the fact one of his staff members just left a script of plays sitting at the team hotel bar.

"I think if someone had left that, they left it. Mistake, what am I going to do about it? It's over," Sanders proclaimed. "Let's go, let's go. We could have the opposing team's first ten or fifth teen plays, we still have to stop it.

"When you get something like that, do you really trust it as a coach? So was that a dummy script or was that real? Like, that's what your thinking as a coach. If somebody called us and said Utah left the first twenty plays of their script, I wouldn’t believe that."

COLORADO STATE DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR FIRED AFTER DISAPPEARING FROM SIDELINE IN THE MIDDLE OF BLOWOUT LOSS

Ok, as much as Deion Sanders wants to put this whole situation behind him, it's just the latest example of some of the wilder things that have happened over his tenure at Colorado.

And, as we have written over the past few months, the hits just keep building up for those within the Buffaloes football program.

DEION SANDERS DARED THE MEDIA TO WRITE THE TRUTH ABOUT COLORADO FOOTBALL: OK, IT'S TIME TO END THIS CHARADE

But, at least we can read between the lines of what Sanders was implying on Tuesday afternoon.

Yes, it sounds as though a staff member left behind a script of plays intended for the Colorado offense.

No, Sanders was not going to make it a bigger deal than it already was. But if Deion Sanders cannot get things on-track in Boulder, a script might not be the only thing that leaves Boulder.

The clock is ticking on how much longer Deion Sanders is willing to deal with the charade that has overtaken the Colorado football program he created.
